My lifestyle was killing me and I knew I had to do something about it. I have learned that the best way to develop a healthy lifestyle is to discover the source of problem and then put a plan into action that will develop good health.

healthy late night snacks

Most of us are in the habit of staying up late, either working, reading, watching T.V. Whatever the reason may be, you can begin to hear your stomach growling in those late nights. It is true that most of our late night food cravings stem from boredom. Sometimes, though, they are genuine and may happen because of early dinner, dehydration, low salt levels or low sugar levels, or lack of proteins. In any case, our hunger needs to be satisfied. So why not opt for some healthy late night snacks and save on those calories which collect more easily and quickly late at night

Now in our state of cravings and hunger we end up reaching for whatever is in sight, without giving it a thought about whether it's healthy or not, especially at night. But before you do so, stop just for a moment and think about what you should be eating rather than what you want to eat.

Always give priority to protein rich foods rather than carbohydrates. This is because proteins take longer to digest while foods rich in carbohydrates digest very quickly, thereby causing hunger in short spans. Refer to: list of carbohydrate rich foods.

If you have a special 'late night snack corner' in your kitchen, it'll make it easier for you to make choices at that hour. It can be full of healthy late night snack choices, and does not require you to stress yourself on thinking about what's good and what's bad for you at that hour.
