Physical activity is a natural instinct in the young. You have probably said many times, "I wish I had as much energy as that child!"
Children are instinctively active. They hop, skip, jump, and run from place to place. And have you ever watched puppies? They play much more than do older dogs.
As we get older, we tend to slow down. Yet we know that activity is the key to maintaining youthful bodies and energy.
That's why scientists are beginning to recognize that motivation must take over where instinct leaves off.
The older we get the more natural it is to decrease our activity level. So the key to maintaining a high level of activity is to be self-motivated. And the way to do that is to find active things that are enjoyable. It may be playing golf or tennis or gardening ow walking through the neighborhood or the shopping mall.
The older we get the more we must all fight the natural instinct to slow down.
