Exercise and Cancer

Is exercise really effective against cancer? Yes, especially colon cancer. A report published two years ago found that hose who were highly or moderately active had a 50 percent lower risk of colon cancer than those who were less active. Active men were defined as those expending more than 1,000 calories per week in recreational activity, the equivalent of jogging or playing tennis two hours a week or walking 10 miles a week.

In addition, a twenty-one-year study of eight thousand Japanese men in Hawaii suggested that those who were as mush as 70 percent less likely to develop colon cancer than the sedentary men. Similarly, studies of some men and women show that being sedentary may increase the risk of colon cancer more than threefold.

Physically active and a low fat, high-fiber diet may account for much of the eduction in the risk of colon cancer. Some researchers, however, reported that exercise seemed to have a protective effect, independent of diet. It appears, that exercise, like wisdom, is a good thing?

An Inquisitive Mind

Did you know that jelly beans, pretzels, fudge sauce, and cracker jacks are low in fat? For example, when you get a sweet craving for chocolate have some nonfat yogurt with a couple of tablespoons of chocolate sauce.

People don't feel they like are on a diet when they can eat this way. The word isn't restrain when it comes to eating. This word is freedom, be free to eat foods that are low in fat. Look for foods that have one gram of fat in desserts.

We need to be as wise as King Solomon, who had an inquisitive mind and who enjoyed searching out innovative ways of doing things. If you ask the Lord to help you, He will give you new and creative ways to satisfy your desires and lose weight at the same time.

Yogurt: Cold Medicine?

Researchers have found that persons who eat live-culture yogurt have 25 percent fewer cold and high fever symptoms than those who don't eat yogurt. Why is that? Scientist think it may be that yogurt boosts the immune system by stimulating production of gamma interferon.

Yogurt is also a good, low-fat source of calcium, and that helps prevent osteoporosis in women. I you want a healthy frame, be sure you get enough calcium in your diet.

Do you see how small amounts of certain nutrients affect our bodies in different ways? That's why it is dangerous to go on a starvation diet or one that only lets you eat a few selected food items. The Lord will meet all your nutritional needs if you allow Him to guide you as He has promise to do.

Caring for God's Temple

How do you stay physically fit? You know the three rules. Eat right, sleep enough, and exercise. Most people eat too much sugar and fat; consequently, many of us are weight, suffer from sugar highs and sugar lows, or even heart disease. Many of us are careless about sleep. If you do not wake up reasonably refreshed, maybe you are not spending enough time in bed. Or maybe your sleep is inhibited by the coffee you drank all the day. And for far too many of us, our major form of exercise is walking down the hall of photocopy machine. We say we don't have time or energy to exercise, yet experts have medically proven that exercise replenish our energy.

If you are spiritually and emotionally on track, but still feel burned out, check your diet, your sleep and your exercise. A few simple changes might be just what you need to refuel your tank and refit your steadfast sacrificial loving

Your Ideal Weight

Every woman has a magical number in her mind that she thinks she would weigh. This could be her weight when she graduated from high school or when she got married. For many women this "ideal weight" is an unrealistic expectation, and trying to achieve it can cause a great deal or stress.

One lady confessed that when she got to her goal in weight-loss program, it completely consumed her life. She became a slave to staying at that number on her scale.

Many women even want to get below a certain magic number, and in the process they can become sick and nonfunctional. Let's stop worrying about that perfect number, and decide for ourselves how much we want to weigh. At what weigh do you think you look and feel your best? That's where you want your weight to be.

Only God's way are perfect. That's why without His help, we will ultimately fail.

On your level

Your aerobic training can take any form you enjoy. It might be walking , jogging, hiking, swimming, cycling , rowing as well as game activities like basketball, tennis, racket ball, volleyball, etc.

The important thing is to engage in activity that uses the large muscles. But you should also choose activities you enjoy and are suited to your level of fitness. You don't want to be gasping for your breath. If you are, then you have the chosen an activity that is too strenuous for you.

If you work at too high a level, you will tire of the activity and give it up.You are more likely to injure yourself if the program is too hard. Remember to take it easy at first and gradually build up as your fitness level improves. The experts say moderate intensity exercise like walking is best for most adults.

Sometimes our plans may be on the right track, but they need the right direction.

Listening in your body

After you've removed the bathroom scale, you may find that you are paying more attention to your body and what it is saying to you. If so, that means you are learning to gauge when you feel hunger and when you feel full. After a while, you will think less about what the scale indicates and more about how you feel.

You will eventually learn to listen to your body and eat only in response to hunger. You'll also know when to stop eating. If you eat quality food and exercise regularly, you will be able to make peace with your body now, no matter what the size. Remember, your worth as a person is not measured by the scale.

Jesus said that "the very hairs of your head are all numbered ." jesus loves you very much. He died to save you because He considers you to be of great worth.

Motivation: Key to Active Lifestyle

Physical activity is a natural instinct in the young. You have probably said many times, "I wish I had as much energy as that child!"

Children are instinctively active. They hop, skip, jump, and run from place to place. And have you ever watched puppies? They play much more than do older dogs.

As we get older, we tend to slow down. Yet we know that activity is the key to maintaining youthful bodies and energy.

That's why scientists are beginning to recognize that motivation must take over where instinct leaves off.

The older we get the more natural it is to decrease our activity level. So the key to maintaining a high level of activity is to be self-motivated. And the way to do that is to find active things that are enjoyable. It may be playing golf or tennis or gardening ow walking through the neighborhood or the shopping mall.

The older we get the more we must all fight the natural instinct to slow down.
